Land Acknowledgment
We acknowledge that Thunder Meadows Health & Wellness Inc. is located within the traditional Ktunaxa homelands. The Ktunaxa refer to the Elk Valley as Qukin ʔamakʔis, meaning Raven’s Land.
Qukin ʔamakʔis, is the formerly surrendered traditional territory of Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi’it. The Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it is one of several Ktunaxa Nation communities in Canada and comprises 10,600 acres in Southeastern British Columbia. We recognize that we live and work within these vast lands. Ktunaxa (pronounced ‘k-too-nah-ha’) people have occupied the lands adjacent to the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers and the Arrow Lakes of British Columbia, Canada for more than 10,000 years.
